HIXSON WOMEN’S MINISTRY ACTIVITIES

 

ONGOING:

 

LADIES’ RETREAT-Held ever other year in the spring. (We are attempting to have this the last weekend in April every year.) The location varies from year to year, but is a short driving distance from home. The retreat starts on Friday evening and ends on Saturday afternoon. The retreat consists of Devotionals, prayer, social activities, and guest speakers. There is also plenty of eating, sharing, and getting to know one another better.

 

BIBLE STUDIES-

A Ladies’ Bible class is offered on Sunday Morning and on Wednesday Night. Topics vary and teachers rotate. New studies are being created for these time periods. Jim Beasley coordinates the Bible Study curriculum for Sunday and Wednesday.

 

WEEK-NIGHT

Also offered are week-night Bible studies, which have been well attended. These vary and will be published in the bulletin and advertised online and at the church building. Look for announcements and contact information.

 

WEEK-DAY

 

Friday Morning Pray Group meets the first Friday in each month.  For details click here.

 

A Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Class meets each week at 10:00 am for one hour of Bible Study. Topics vary from year to year.  This class usually follows the school calendar and does not meet in the summer months. CONTACT: Church office.

 

Monthly

 

FRIENDS NIGHT OUT- This a monthly social activity. Each month throughout the year a different lady hosts the group in her home. It is an opportunity to get to know each other better. New members are especially encouraged to attend this activity. Sign up sheets and directions are posted on the Women’s Ministry Bulletin Board.

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

 

CHATTANOOGA ROOM IN THE INN- Meal Preparation- Ladies rotate taking meals to the Shelter for homeless women and children. This is coordinated through the Care groups and the Care group chairperson should be contacted if you are interested in getting on that rotation. Usually only requires preparation once a month or less.

 

KOMEN BREAST CANCER WALK- Ladies register for this event as a team to support this cause and to support women in our church, families, or friends who have had to fight this disease.

 

INTENSIVE CARE FOOD BASKETS- Snacks are provided to the intensive care waiting rooms of area hospitals for people who spend long periods of time there with sick friends and family. This is done on a rotating basis.

 

 

SEASONAL ACTIVITIES:

 

MOTHER DAUGHTER GINGERBREAD HOUSE MAKING PARTY- A tradition to be held every Christmas season. It is usually scheduled around the first of December. This activity is designed for moms (or grand moms) and daughters. There is a small fee for supplies and a sign up sheet on the Bulletin Board.

 

CHRISTMAS SOCIAL- An event held in early December either at the church or at the home of one of our ladies. This event will change from year to year. In the past we have had such activities as an ornament exchange. Plenty of food and fun!

 

MOTHER DAUGHTER BRUNCH- A brunch for Moms and Daughters. Usually a short talk about Mothers and special recognitions. This will be held in May.

 

NEW SISTERS SUPPER- Annually we recognize and welcome the new women who have become a part of our fellowship in the previous year. This is a potluck salad supper and we have someone who talks about the blessing of being a Woman at Hixson.

 

BOO-HOO BREAKFAST-This is an annual event to celebrate (and boo-hoo) with moms who are sending their children to Kindergarten. Open to all who have children starting school and also to those ladies who would like to share this special time with them. The morning consists of a light breakfast followed by a short devotional talk.
